VOLUNTEER VACANCY • REGIONAL SPECIALIST BALKANS

Het Actiefonds is a fund for activism. We strive for a just, inclusive and sustainable world in which people, the environment and animals are prioritized over economic interests. We support social movements around the world by providing small-scale grants for their direct actions.

 

We are now looking for a Regional Specialist to join our team of regional advisors in the Eastern Europe/MENA Section, with specific knowledge of the Balkan region.

Algemene informatie

About the position

As a Regional Specialist you will join a regional section consisting of several Regional Specialists. You will bring in political, social and cultural context of the region as well as a relevant activist network. You have a good insight into the dynamics of social movements in the country/region and ideally speak the respective language.

 

About the section meetings

The regional section meets once a month in the evening in Amsterdam. You are expected to attend at least 8 of 12 monthly meetings as well as actively prepare for them by reviewing the incoming applications. You can expect to spend approx. 2-5 hours per month on participating in the section meetings.

 

Who are we looking for

  • You have knowledge of socio-political relations in the region and ideally speak at least one of the languages from the region;
  • You have a relevant network of activists and critical grassroots movements in the region;
  • You recognize and believe in the crucial role that social movements and activists play in social change;
  • You are committed to join in person meetings for at least 8 out of 12 evenings per year (held in Amsterdam, approx. 2-3 hours per month)
  • You are based in The Netherlands (necessary to process confidential applications)
